What is Wandering Labs? Campsite Cancellation Alerts Explained

Published October 10, 2026

Popular campgrounds sell out months in advance, often within minutes of the booking window opening. But plans change, and people cancel. When they do, that site goes back on the reservation website for whoever happens to look first. Wandering Labs is how you look first.

What it does

Tell us the campground, your dates and what kind of site you need. We check the reservation website for you, around the clock, and send you an alert the moment a matching site opens up from a cancellation. No more refreshing the page over and over, and no more getting up at 5 am to try again.

Which reservation systems it covers

We watch most public campgrounds in the United States, including:

  • Recreation.gov (National Parks, National Forests, Army Corps of Engineers and more)
  • ReserveCalifornia (California State Parks)
  • Florida State Parks and many other state park systems
  • County and regional park systems

To see whether we cover a particular campground, start a new request and search for it, or browse campgrounds by state on the explore page.

How alerts work

When a site matching your request becomes available, we email you (or text you, with Premium) with a link straight to it. You then book it yourself on the official reservation website, the same way you would any other reservation.

We're an alert service, not a booking service. We never reserve, hold or resell campsites, and we never ask for your reservation account login. Wandering Labs is not affiliated with Recreation.gov, ReserveCalifornia or any other reservation system.

Free vs. Premium

A free account lets you run up to 3 requests with email alerts. Free requests pause every week.

Premium is $30 and adds:

  • Check twice as often (high demand locations every minute)
  • 500 Txt alerts
  • Unlimited Requests
  • No pausing (Free requests pause every week)
